Terms and conditions

Clear terms. A clear understanding.

What to expect when you buy OnlyCat, use the app or need our help.

Who you are buying from

OnlyCat is a trading name of VirtualV Trading Ltd, registered in England and Wales with company number 10391078. Our registered office is Unit 4 Arcot Court, Nelson Park Industrial Estate, Cramlington, Northumberland, NE23 1BB, United Kingdom.

These terms, the product details and your chosen plan form your agreement with us. They cover consumer purchases directly from OnlyCat and use of our app and connected services. Keep your order confirmation. If you bought from another retailer, your purchase rights are against that retailer.

For orders, support or complaints, email support@onlycat.com or call +44 191 58 000 60.

Your order, clearly explained

Before you pay, we show the selected products, total price, applicable taxes, delivery costs and any recurring payments. Please check your address, installation requirements and chosen options.

We accept your order by email. An automatic acknowledgement that we have received it is not acceptance. If we cannot accept an order, we will explain and refund any payment taken for it. If we spot a pricing error before acceptance, we will ask whether you want to order at the correct price or cancel.

We deliver within the period agreed with you, or within 30 days if no different period was agreed. If there is a delay, we will let you know and explain your options, including cancellation where you are entitled to it. Goods remain our responsibility until you or your nominated recipient receives them. If you independently arrange a carrier we did not offer, responsibility passes when we hand the goods to that carrier.

Available destinations and delivery charges are shown when ordering. Contact us before purchase if you need help understanding delivery to your country.

Choose the payment option that suits you

One-time purchase

The one-time purchase includes the core functionality described when you order, without a required recurring subscription.

Subscription version

The subscription version has an upfront price and a recurring charge. There is no minimum commitment. Key product features require a paid subscription and will be suspended if it is not paid. The price and billing interval are shown before purchase and confirmed with your order.

Set up, manage and cancel your subscription in the OnlyCat app. If you need help, contact support@onlycat.com. A rolling subscription renews each billing period until cancelled. You can cancel at any time; outside your legal cancellation rights, cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period. We will confirm the end date. When paid access ends, key product features will be suspended: make suitable arrangements for your cats.

If a payment fails, we will contact you and, where possible, give you an opportunity to put it right before suspending features.

If you continue using the subscription version while payments are overdue, we may require payment for that unpaid use before re-enabling the subscription. We calculate this at the subscription rate applicable to that period, pro-rated for part of a billing period. We will explain the dates and calculation before you decide whether to reactivate. This is payment for unpaid use, not a penalty or a charge for an inactive period after cancellation.

Cancelling a subscription does not by itself return the hardware or create a hardware refund; your cancellation and faulty-goods rights still apply.

If you change your mind, or something is wrong

You can cancel before delivery for a full refund. Our 30-day change-of-mind policy gives you 30 days from delivery to request a return, then 14 days to send it back, subject to the condition requirements in our returns policy. It is not an unconditional in-home trial. Your statutory cancellation rights are separate and remain unchanged.

Any separate service or digital-content cancellation rights also apply. If you ask for a service to start during its cancellation period, we will explain any proportionate charge first and obtain the agreement the law requires. Simply opening an account does not waive your rights.

Goods must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. Faulty goods have separate rights to repair, replacement or a refund where the law provides them. OnlyCat also includes a two-year warranty for manufacturing and design defects. Damage caused by accidents, incorrect installation or unauthorised modification is outside that additional warranty. Your statutory rights remain unaffected.

Our returns policy forms part of these terms and sets out refund timing, delivery and return costs, condition requirements and warranty arrangements. Contact us before sending a device back.

Returns, refunds and warranty

Use it with care

Check the fit, power and connection requirements before installation, follow the guides, and use a qualified installer where needed. Obtain any property permissions needed for the work.

OnlyCat is designed to recognise your cats and help stop prey coming indoors. Detection, identification and activity records can sometimes be wrong; they are not a guarantee of a prey-free home or a substitute for looking after your cats. Choose suitable access rules and check them after setup.

Safety and care instructions

A connected product

Access control decisions and prey detection happen on the device and continue during a cloud-service interruption, provided the device has power and the relevant features have not been suspended for nonpayment.

App access, remote controls and event delivery depend on an internet connection and connected services. Maintenance, network problems or outages can interrupt these features. We aim to keep them available, give notice of planned interruptions where reasonably possible and work to resolve faults.

We provide updates to maintain security and the functionality you bought, including those required by law. Please follow reasonable setup and update instructions. An outage does not remove any remedy you have if we fail to provide what we agreed.

What “lifetime” means

Lifetime cloud services, updates and support apply to the supported working life of the product, not its owner’s lifetime. They stay with the device when ownership changes. We will give reasonable advance notice of a planned end to support and explain its effect and any remedies you are entitled to. This does not allow us to withdraw agreed services arbitrarily.

If your OnlyCat changes homes

You can sell or give away your OnlyCat, including its lifetime service benefits where included. The new owner does not need to buy those benefits again.

Remove previous users’ access and contact us if you need help transferring the device. Transfer the device, not your account password. For a subscription version, the new owner will need to set up their own subscription in the app; manage or cancel your existing subscription there too.

Look after your account

Keep your sign-in details secure, share device access only with people you trust, and contact us if you suspect unauthorised use.

You may use our app and software for their intended purpose. OnlyCat and its licensors retain their intellectual property rights. Do not copy, resell or modify the software, or reverse-engineer it, except where the law permits. Do not interfere with the service, access someone else’s account, harvest information or use it to send unlawful or abusive material.

We may suspend access only where reasonably necessary for security, legal requirements, a serious breach of these terms or unpaid charges. Where possible, we will give notice, explain why and allow time to resolve it. Urgent security or legal issues may require immediate action. Contact us to challenge a suspension. Any refunds required by law remain due.

Your information and event clips

We use account details, cat profiles, identifiers, door activity and clips to provide the service. By default, we may also use pet data, photos and clips for research, product improvements and OnlyCat marketing, such as showing how the product works.

You grant OnlyCat a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, copy, analyse, edit and use that content for these purposes, including publishing selected photos or clips in our marketing. This permission does not transfer ownership of your content to us.

Our privacy notice governs personal information, lawful bases, retention and your rights, including after an account closes. A content licence does not override those rights. For public marketing, we remove or obscure identifying personal details unless we have separate permission to include them. Where the law requires consent, we ask for it separately before that use.

To opt out of research, improvement or marketing use of your content, email admin@onlycat.com. We will stop new optional uses and explain any limits on withdrawing material already published or research already completed, subject to your legal rights. For privacy questions, contact privacy@onlycat.com.

Our responsibility to you

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited. Your statutory consumer rights, including rights to repair, replacement, refunds and compensation where applicable, and our commitments under the two-year warranty remain unaffected.

Subject to those exceptions, our total aggregate liability to you arising from or in connection with a device and its associated app and connected services, whether in contract, negligence or otherwise, shall not exceed £30 per device. This limit applies to all claims relating to that device combined, rather than separately to each claim.

We do not cover indirect or consequential loss. Our product remedies are set out in our returns and warranty policy.

Installation and alterations

Installation, removal and alterations to your property are your responsibility. Our returns and warranty policy covers the product itself, not the cost of fitting or removing it, making good an opening, or modifying or replacing a door, window or wall.

Check the dimensions, installation requirements and suitability before commissioning work. If something is wrong, contact us before arranging remedial work so we can assess the issue and explain the next steps.

The product and service are supplied for domestic use. We do not cover business losses, such as lost business profits, arising from using them commercially.

Changes, questions and complaints

The terms agreed when you order apply to that purchase. We may update terms for future orders. For an ongoing service, changes must have a valid reason, such as a change in law or a necessary security or technical update. We will explain material changes in advance. If a change materially disadvantages you, we will explain how you can end the affected service and receive any refund you are entitled to, before the change takes effect.

For a complaint, contact us with your order or device details and a description of the problem. We will investigate and explain the next steps and any remedy you are entitled to.

English law applies, but you keep any mandatory consumer protections that apply where you live. You can bring proceedings in the courts of England and Wales. If a part of these terms cannot be enforced, the remaining parts continue to apply.
