Wild outside. Calm inside.
Let cats be cats — and keep what they catch outside.
- Your cats, in and out. OnlyCat reads your cats’ microchips or compatible collar tags on entry and exit. Choose who may come in, who may go out and when, cat by cat.
- A decision in the blink of an eye. OnlyCat checks for prey on the flap itself, typically in 0.2 seconds—even after dark.
- See what happened. Review arrivals, departures and detected prey attempts, with videos, notifications and household sharing in one app.
- Designed and built in the United Kingdom. Tested before it leaves us, with a two-year warranty and 30 days to try it at home. Read our returns and warranty policy.

Software issues / False reading - no Cat their repeatedly or not letting our cats in
We’ve had problems with the OnlyCat cat flap pretty much from the start. After setting it up, everything seemed fine, and we successfully linked our cats’ microchips. However, the flap initially refused to let our cats in or out. Thankfully, this was eventually resolved after contacting technical support.
Things then worked brilliantly for around a month, and we thought we were finally sorted. Unfortunately, the problems started again. The cat flap began constantly detecting visitors every 1–2 minutes, even when there was absolutely nobody there. It was as though it was detecting ghosts!
After contacting technical support again, the team installed new firmware, which appeared to fix the problem for a day or so. However, the issue soon returned.
Now, we have the added problem of the cat flap failing to recognise our own cats when they want to come inside. They can be pushing against the flap with their heads and paws in exactly the position where their microchips should be detected, yet the flap still doesn’t recognise them.
It’s incredibly frustrating to have a product that works one minute, stops working the next, constantly detects visitors who aren’t there, and then fails to recognise the very cats it is supposed to let in.
We have contacted customer service multiple times, and whilst we appreciate the help from the technical support team, we still don’t seem to have a lasting solution. At this point, I genuinely question whether there are significant firmware or software bugs affecting the product, as the issues seem to return even after updates.
For the price of this cat flap, I expected a reliable product that would make life easier, not something that causes constant frustration and requires repeated contact with technical support.
Unfortunately, I cannot recommend the OnlyCat cat flap in its current state. We simply need a cat flap that reliably recognises our cats and lets them in and out, rather than one that seems to have a mind of its own. For the money we’ve spent, it just isn’t worth the hassle.

The cat flap has been running reliably for over a year and even detects leaves and feathers the cats try to bring in. At the start it had to be replaced twice – probably just bad units. But since all of that was handled well, I'm very happy as things stand and still give it 5 stars.

Make sure to clean the camera from time to time to reduce false positives (happens rarely, mostly due to dirt on camera lenses or if the cat tries to enter too fast and doesn’t show its snout.
