I love our cats, but I hate rodents. Only cat is an amazing bit of kit. Its detection sensitivity is superb and has so far had a 100% success rate with ‘contraband detected’ and their entry barred. On one occasion just having a tongue sticking out was enough to temporarily bar entry.
Not cheap, but worth every single penny. I’m telling everyone I know who has a cat about it .

After the first 2 months we finally saw one of our cats kept out due to having a rat in his mouth, which was great.

However in March my husband noticed a weird smell and something off about the cat door. The wall adaptor was hot to the touch due to the wires of the cord separating from the metal piece that goes into the adaptor. This resulted in the wall outlet needing to be replaced and could have started a fire if my husband had not been home at the time. I reached out to customer service and this was their response:
"I’m sorry to hear about this issue. We’ll raise it with our power adapter supplier for further investigation.

Incidents like this are extremely rare. In some cases, a localised fault can lead to overheating and minor plastic deformation, which may cause the adapter to stop functioning. That can happen if the cable is snagged, leading to damage of the internal connection, increasing resistance, and ultimately localised heating/melting.

In the meantime, you can safely use an alternative adapter, such as one from an iPhone, MacBook, or Android device. Would you like us to send you a replacement adaptor?

Apologies for the inconvenience caused, and thank you for bringing this to our attention."

We have never had a similar issue with any other charging cables and the low sense of urgency from customer help has soured our impression of this door.

In addition to the above experience we a were disappointed that clear installation instructions were not included in the box, the app is not intuitive for a first time customer and the size of the entry flap for our cats is too small. Our cats (9 pounds and 16 pounds) will use the door but we can tell that they do not like it compared to the size of the SureFlap Pet Door.

This product is not worth $700-$900, it's more of a $300-$400 product but since they are currently the only company that currently has a prey detecting pet door available for purchase they can charge a lot.

Some things in life are expensive. Some things in life are priceless. OnlyCat falls into the latter category. I can’t begin to put a price on the peace of mind having an almost foolproof way of preventing my cats from bringing in all manner of critters, from fieldmice to rats, birds to bats, and frogs, into the house.

Not only can I sleep soundly, not listening out for the familiar sounds of a cat toying with its prey, or find decaying remnants of animals that have been batted under sofas, cupboards and beds, but this has changed the behaviour of the cats. Just over a year since installation and I’m being alerted to far fewer ‘contraband detected’ incidents, to the point where now, the cats don’t even bother trying the cat flap so I sometimes wake up to a dead mouse on the outside door mat, but far less often than I was being woken up to previously.

This is seriously worth the money.

Honest review with pros and cons

I bought an Onlycat catflap and I can honestly say it has been completely life changing for us. Our cat is proper hunter, it started with worms, then mice and birds and then she moved onto large pigeons. We were up countless nights chasing half dead mice or coming home to decapitated pigeons in our living room. I saw the catflap and it’s not cheap, but after looking into ZeroMouse and other options which are simply not as effective, I took the plunge and bought one. A few hours after installing it, it blocked the first mouse being brought in, and I have lost count how many pigpens and birds and other animals it’s blocked since having it in October. Maybe about 20+ attempts? The technology absolutely amazes me. The customer services are also really on it. I had one tiny installing issue and within an hour it got sorted. The only con, which isn’t really a con, is that it took one of my two cats about 5 days to learn how to open it. As it scans every exit an entry, so it has a tiny delay until it clicks open. Cats learn it very quick. Mine is wired in via a plug near-ish our door. It comes with a long string cable. Everything pings up on my phone. You can download the videos if you want, I usually download the ones where my cat is being blocked with a bird in its mouth so I can laugh at it and celebrate.
So my verdict overall. It’s not cheap! But the technology is absolutely incredible. We’ve not had a single dead animal in our home since. It got so bad that I was going to rehome our cat. We have our cat, and we can all sleep at night again. I don’t know how to attach videos but I have many to show !

This is a great product.
It was easy to swap out our sureflap for this new catflap & although I needed a longer USB cable it was easy enough to route it to a power point.
We've now successfully repelled over a dozen attempts by our cats to bring in mice in only a 2 week period.
We also found that one of the neighbours' cats regularly poke its head into the cat flap!

OnlyCat is a game changer. Brilliantly engineered design from lovely people with amazing service. So glad I found this.

Since buying an OnlyCat, we sleep well knowing our cats can´t bring in anything anymore. Our cats brought in many live mice before, not anymore, the OnlyCat is working for 100% of the attempts they make smuggling in contraband. It´s so satisfying looking at the video´s of the attempts! Can 100% recommend. If buying from Belgium, like me, know there will be some extra customs costs.

The OnlyCat AI cat door has a 100% success rate in identifying prey and blocking our prolific hunter from bringing mice into the house. We were hoping for a reduction to get more sleep, but the door surpassed our expectations. Well done to the OnlyCat team.

Purchased an OnlyCat cat flap to help reduce the number of unwanted presents brought into the house by our 4 cats and I'll admit, I didn't have too much hope that it would be as effective or awesome as it has turned out to be. Setup was a cinch and on the first night, it blocked 3 rodents from being brought in. An added bonus is being able to see out cats confused little faces when they try to enter the house and get access denied! Yes, it's very expensive for a cat flap, but I honestly cannot recommend this higher to anyone who has cats who are prolific hunters. Truly amazing.

Im always a bit dubious when something sounds too good to be true - so far Onlycat does exactly what it is supposed to. My cats can not even bring a leaf or a feather into the house let alone a bird or a mouse. Im sooooo happy its a life changer

*Edit to address the response* - to the question on the survey about whether I had clocked there was mains power required, I replied "I didn't know this but I can make it work" per your email record to me of the survey response. I did try to make it work. I did also email customer support for advice on the wiring and didn't receive any suggestions of how to address the issue. The cable supplied is white - there really are no pictures showing this on the website, although I see there is now a link to some customer photos. It's genuinely not clear. I can also see that other customers have raised this point.

This product requires a permanent, wired power source. That means it is not suitable for installation in doors (a typical place to install a cat flap). This is not at all clear from the website. For example, none of the pictures show a cat flap with a wire coming out the bottom of the unit. Ours was installed in the back door and the wire inevitably broke in the connection to the cat flap itself and is now unusable. If the need for a permanent wired power connection had been clear on the website, I would not have bought this product. It's expensive and has, unfortunately, been a huge waste of money in my case.

Amazing product! I have wanted something like this for the last few years. My cat, Mack started bringing in snakes, mice and bunnies because I was letting him outside and leaving the door cracked open for him. I learned my lesson and started keeping the door closed. But after he got a taste for hunting he was driving me crazy with going in and out. Sometimes not coming home before I went to bed when the weather was warm. I worried about him being locked outside all night and my attempts to keep him inside failed as he is fast and sneaky. I also knew a pet flap would just allow him to continue bringing me gifts. So, I was super excited to learn about OnlyCat. I did my research before purchase due to the price. It was worth every penny! It’s easy to install and most importantly it works! Support is always available with a quick response through a chat with a real person. Upon purchase I was invited to a Facebook group with others who share experiences and ideas. Mack was comfortable using the door within less than a week and last night was his first attempt to bring in a mouse. The door locked and alerted me. It was fantastic. The opening is small so it may be a struggle for bigger cats. Mack is a long cat. He struggled getting his hind legs through because he has to leave them straight and pull his back legs through with his upper body strength when exiting the house. Coming into the house the entry is a little wider. I highly recommend OnlyCat for anyone who has the same issues I had. My other cat stays inside but I don’t have to worry about her venturing out because the door only opens for Mack since he’s wearing the microchip on his collar.

I saw this on Dragons Den, and I thought I’d try anything that prevented me chasing critters round the house at all hours of the day & night

The problem: I needed to marry this standard size cat flap on to the tunnel of a Sure Flap large pet door, and as suspected, it was a terrible match when it arrived

The solution: when I explained the problem to the company, they made me an adapter, 3D printed so it matched perfectly

Look, the product is pricey, but it contains new tech, and if it performs how I hope it will, I’ll forget the cost quite quickly

I can only say, that emails were answered, and Ross spent a lot of time of the phone with me to make this work, so good luck to them

While we had to exercise a lot of patience after our initial order, we have been overwhelmingly impressed with how well OnlyCat works. Not only that, but the company is very engaged with their customers, both directly and via their active Facebook group. Topping all this off is the great feeling of supporting a British company.

Not only is this a fantastic cat flap which works exactly as intended, the after sales support is superb:
My not-very-bright cat has, against all odds, managed to find a loophole in the contraband protocol by leaving her rodent kills in the entrance tunnel then breezing through the flap with a 'clear mouth', only to turn around and pretend to exit, grabbing her victim from the tunnel and bringing it in.
Within five minutes of my emergency email to support at 10.30pm (UK time) I had a reply offering to remotely set up a lockout period after contraband is detected, and was given the choice of how long in minutes I wanted it set to. This was done very quickly and I'm now content that my cat will get bored of looking at her succulent kills waiting for her in the tunnel and take them away to dine on them somewhere that isn't here.

game changer! This lets us go on holiday and the cat is fine. We can set it so his chip is the only one allowed in. It auto scans the chip so setup is very intuitive in the app. But essentially, it always picks up if he has a mouse and blocks entry. It’s not a cheap item but it works!! It really really just works. You get live video event too. Absolutely do get it
